How it works
- The donor picks your offline option on the form (for example "Mail a check") and sees your instructions.
- The gift is saved as Awaiting payment. It isn't counted in your totals yet.
- The donor is emailed your instructions, and you get a new-donation alert.
- When the money arrives, open Donor Merchant → Donations and click Mark received. The gift counts from then on, and the donor gets their receipt.
Offline gifts are one-time only.
Set it up
- Open Donor Merchant → Settings → Payments and click Manage next to Offline gifts.
- Tick Let donors choose to give offline.
- Name the option donors see. The default is "Check or bank transfer".
- Add your instructions: where to mail a check and who to make it out to, or your bank details. They appear on the form, on the thank-you screen and in the email.
- Leave Email the donor a receipt when I mark a gift received ticked, or untick it to skip the receipt.
The instructions email is Offline gift instructions under Settings → Email, where you can reword it like any other email.
Finding gifts that haven't arrived
Filter Donations by Awaiting payment, or check the Dashboard, which lists them. Awaiting gifts are never cleared away automatically.
A check that came in without a pledge?Use Add Donation on the Donations screen instead. It records the gift as received straight away and only emails a receipt if you ask it to.
